Heritage Students Honored by Mayor for Community Service
Hilton Head Mayor Drew Laughlin began "The Mayor’s Youth Volunteer Service Award" to honor middle and high school student who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspired others to engage in volunteer service. To be recognized for this award, a student must have completed at least 50 hours of community service between May 1, 2011 and April 30, 2012. Four Heritage Academy students were presented the Award by Mayor Laughlin at a special Awards Ceremony held Monday, May 14, 2012.
Bronze Level - 50 hours, Silver Level – 51-100 hours
Heritage Academy student Sydnee Wheeler – 58 hours
Heritage Academy student Spencer Woolfolk – 55 hours
Gold Level – 101-150 hours
Call to Service Level – over 150 hours Three students achieved this award, and two were from Heritage Academy: Nicholas Wheeler – 399 hours and Tara Bianco – 151 hours
