Spanish 4/ 5 (Advanced Grammar and Culture) encompasses a study of advanced grammar, composition, and communication. At this level, effective communication (written and oral ) continues to be the ultimate goal. Short stories, poetry, essays and a novel are used as an introduction to Hispanic literature. Students write descriptive essays and opinion papers. Students study the effect of the history of Spain on the cultural and artistic traditions of the Hispanic world. Successful completion of this course should enable the student to “place out” of several courses of Spanish at the college level.
